Abrams, J(effrey) J(acob) (1966– )

From The Hutchinson Unabridged Encyclopedia with Atlas and Weather Guide
US screenwriter, producer, director, and composer. He has worked extensively in both film and television and is responsible for creating some of the early 21st century's most popular television series, including the action adventure series Alias (2001–06), starring Jennifer Garner , and the castaway drama Lost (2004–10). He directed and produced the critically acclaimed blockbusters Star Trek (2009) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), the latter of which he also wrote. He has worked in film since the early 1990s. He wrote and produced the dramas Regarding Henry (1991) and Forever Young (1992), and wrote the screenplay for the science-fiction action film Armageddon (1998). Among his production credits are comedies such as The Pallbearer (1996), horror films such as Cloverfield (2008), and the sci-fi western television series Westworld (2016– ).
